While fresh apricots have a short shelf life and are typically too fragile for export from the remote regions of Afghanistan, farmers in these regions have expanded their traditional method to turn the Saqi variety of apricot into a unique dried product called Chapa-Namak,

We purchased this product at a local supermarket and oh my word! These are AMAZING. They are like candy, but all natural and perfect texture, and the twisted shape makes them fun to eat.
Drier texture than most dried apricots, they also aren’t sticky/messy to eat. Perfect for lunchboxes and with tea or coffee for an afternoon snack.
